Thread Lift And Non-Surgical Facelift Treatments in Newcastle

The Newcastle clinic focuses on two core areas of facial rejuvenation that are in high demand.

The first is thread lifting. A thread lift in Newcastle with Dr Matla involves placing fine, specialised threads under the skin to gently lift and support areas such as the cheeks, mid-face, jawline, jowls and neck. As well as creating an immediate lifting effect, these threads stimulate collagen over time, which helps improve firmness and contour for a more youthful profile with minimal downtime.

The second is a non-surgical facelift approach. A non-surgical facelift in Newcastle may combine thread lifts with other non-surgical methods where appropriate to address both sagging and overall facial shape. The aim is to restore structure and definition while keeping your expressions soft and natural. You should look well-rested and refreshed rather than obviously treated.

Lip Filler FAQs

Why Choose Lip Enhancement?

Lip Enhancement near Gateshead

Over time, the natural ageing process alters the appearance of your face. The bone that supports your lips is reabsorbed by the body. Your upper lip may appear thinner and flatter without it. It is possible to achieve plumper lips that you will adore. Facial fillers smooth wrinkles around the mouth, but they can also make them fuller, more symmetrical, and more visible. Filling your marionette and bar lines around your mouth gives you a younger and smoother appearance. Over time, the natural ageing process alters the appearance of your face. What happens to the lip volume?

Natural Results for all lip shapes

Many women find that lip filler treatment improves their sense of femininity. Fuller lips can give the appearance of stronger features. They can help to balance the features, especially if you have a larger upper face (eyes and forehead) and a smaller chin. Finally, the volume they restore can give the face bounce and youthfulness.

Are Lip Fillers Painful?

Everyone asks whether the treatment is painful or not. We have read horror stories and seen images of results going wrong circulating on Facebook or Instagram. If you are getting your lip fillers from an experienced doctor/nurse, you probably won’t feel a thing. You might feel a sharp sensation during the procedure.

Our qualified injectors follow proper preparation procedures and advanced injection techniques that ensure you are comfortable during the lip fillers treatment.

Numbing cream and a local anaesthetic are used to make the whole process as painless as possible. If you have low pain tolerance, we can suggest some tips that can help you prepare for a lip filler treatment.

Most lip fillers contain a local anaesthetic to provide pain relief during the procedure, although we may apply a topical anaesthetic cream or ice before treatment to numb the skin. The procedure may be uncomfortable, but it is not usually painful.

How long do lip fillers last?

The initial size of the lip, the patient’s age, the anatomy of the perioral area, the cupid’s bow, oral commissures, upper cutaneous lip size, and the amount of pre-existing collagen all impact the longevity of a lip filler. Some patients may require more than one filler treatment to achieve their desired lip fullness. Lip augmentation uses a variety of dermal fillers. Juvéderm/Teoxane/Belotero are popular options that last 6-12 months. Lip filler can last longer in some cases, depending on the speed at which the body metabolises the product.

Do Lip Fillers Affect Kissing?

Kissing may not be advisable for a couple of days because your lips would be sore and swollen for the first 24 to 48 hours. We advise against touching your lips with your fingers because the fillers have not yet fully settled. There is a risk of infection and migration of lip filler around other parts of your face. Any pressure on the lips after Treatment may also lead to excessive bruising, lumpiness, and excessive swelling.

But once you’ve recovered, rest assured that they will feel fresh and look natural.

Because lip fillers are designed to mimic the softness and sensitivity of the natural lips, anyone you’d kiss wouldn’t have a clue that you had a lip filler treatment unless you tell them yourself.

How Much Does It Cost to Get Lip Fillers?

The saying you get what you pay for is applicable when it comes to lip filler treatments. Never choose cheap options that would potentially compromise the result and your own safety. Don’t put yourself at risk of botched lips, infections, lip tissue necrosis and other serious complications.

Can I use Straw after Lip fillers?

Another frequently asked lip filler question is whether it is safe to use a straw after the treatment. For the first 24 hours following treatment, avoid using a straw due to your lips being numb and swollen, and the pressure of the motion may push the dermal filler away from where it was placed, putting you at risk of harming yourself.

How Much Lip Filler Should You Get?

At Dr Matla Aesthetics Clinic in Newcastle, we understand that every smile is unique. That’s why we create a personalised lip enhancement plan based on your individual goals, facial features, and natural lip shape.

The amount of lip filler needed varies from person to person. It depends on your starting lip volume and the look you’re aiming for, whether that’s a subtle boost or a more defined pout.

As a general guide, we always recommend starting small. A little goes a long way. Beginning with a conservative amount gives you a chance to ease into your new look. We can always build up gradually with follow-up treatments if you’d like a fuller result over time.

Dr Matla uses the latest, most advanced techniques to ensure a safe, comfortable treatment with minimal downtime. Most clients return to their day shortly after the procedure, with results that develop quickly and naturally.

Whether you’re enhancing your natural lips or restoring lost volume, we’ll tailor your treatment to suit you, because there’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to confidence.

Are Lip Fillers Dangerous?

Like most cosmetic treatments, lip fillers can be minimally invasive and involve risks. Is it safe? All treatments carry a degree of risk. All risks and complications will be discussed with you at the consultation and prior to any treatment being agreed upon.

Dermal fillers should be administered by a healthcare professional with specialist training. Adverse events are uncommon, usually occur within a few days and are expected to be temporary, usually resolving spontaneously within weeks. We will provide aftercare advice designed to minimise risk and promote speedy recovery from any expected side effects.

Save yourself from the unsightly and painful consequences of a botched lip filler procedure. Choose a qualified, experienced doctor/nurse.

What are the side effects of lip fillers?

Side effects from lip fillers can include:

  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Itching
  • Tenderness
  • Asymmetry
  • Lumps
  • Tissue loss
  • Scarring
Am I suitable for Lip fillers?

At Dr Matla Aesthetics Clinic in Newcastle, your safety and satisfaction come first. Before any treatment, Dr Matla will carry out a full medical consultation. This includes a review of your medical history and a discussion about your personal goals. It’s important to ensure lip fillers are not only safe for you, but also the right choice.

You may not be suitable for lip fillers if:

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • You are taking certain medications, especially those that suppress the immune system.

  • You have had previous allergic reactions to dermal fillers or local anaesthetics.

  • You are currently experiencing a skin infection, a cold sore, or are otherwise feeling unwell.

  • You have a bleeding disorder or issues with blood clotting.

  • You are on or have recently finished Roaccutane (within the last 18 months).

Every patient is different. That’s why Dr Matla creates a personalised lip filler treatment plan that aligns with your lifestyle and expectations. His priority is to deliver safe, natural-looking results using the latest, evidence-based techniques.

Are Lip Fillers Permanent? Will they alter my Smile?

Lip fillers are not permanent. Dr Matla uses advanced hyaluronic acid fillers, which are gradually broken down by your body over time. Most patients find their results last around 6 to 12 months, depending on their metabolism, lifestyle, product choice and how much filler is used. If needed, hyaluronic acid filler can also be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase, so treatment with Dr Matla is fully reversible rather than permanent.

In terms of your smile, Dr Matla’s focus is always on keeping your lips looking soft, natural and in proportion with the rest of your face. He places filler carefully to support your natural lip shape rather than change how your mouth moves. When lip fillers are done well by an experienced doctor, they should not negatively alter your smile. Instead, they can enhance definition and balance so that your smile still looks like you, just a little more refined and confident.

Will Lip Fillers give me duck lips?

Many patients worry about ‘duck lips’ or an overfilled look. Dr Matla’s approach is to work with your existing lip shape and facial proportions to create soft, balanced enhancement rather than dramatic over-inflation. The aim is to improve definition and add volume while keeping your lips in natural harmony with the rest of your face.

Why choose a doctor-led clinic for lip fillers?

Unlike many high-street beauty clinics or independent therapists, all lip filler procedures here are carried out only by Dr Matla, a qualified practitioner with years of experience in both NHS and private medicine. This means your treatment is planned and delivered with medical knowledge, high-quality medical products and full management of any risks or side effects.

Can You Drink Alcohol After Lip Fillers?

We recommend abstaining from alcohol for 48 hours following your treatment. Alcohol consumption heightens the risk of bleeding and bruising complications, potentially impacting your results and overall health. This precaution ensures optimal outcomes and minimises potential complications.

Do Your Lips Feel Hard After Lip Fillers?

It’s completely normal for your lips to feel slightly firm or swollen in the first few days to two weeks after a lip filler treatment. This is part of your natural healing process as your body adjusts to the hyaluronic acid filler.

Swelling, mild bruising, and a feeling of tightness are very common. But these effects typically subside as the filler settles and your tissues heal. By the end of the second week, your lips should feel soft and natural again.

If your lips still feel hard, lumpy, or painful after two weeks, it’s important to book a review appointment. This allows us to assess the area and provide appropriate aftercare or adjustments if needed.

How Long After Lip Fillers Can I Wear Lipstick?

We recommend waiting two to three days after your treatment before applying makeup, including lipstick. During this time, handle your lips gently to avoid disturbing the newly injected filler. Minimising pressure helps maintain the integrity of the treatment for optimal results.

What Helps Lip Fillers Heal Faster?

After getting your lip injection, your doctor will provide you with a list of post-treatment care steps that you should follow to speed up your recovery.

  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
  • Apply an ice pack to your lips, but be careful not to apply pressure.
  • Avoid taking blood-thinning medicines and supplements, such as ibuprofen and aspirin.
  • Skip smoking or getting exposed to second-hand smoke.
  • Say no to spicy foods.
  • Eat healthy and nutritious fruits and vegetables with lots of antioxidants and minerals.
  • Stop eating fast food and junk food. They are loaded with sodium, which can make you more dehydrated.
  • Do not do rigorous physical activities that involve heavy lifting or sweating.
Can I Fly After Getting Lip Fillers?

No. It’s strongly discouraged for patients to board a flight at least 1-2 weeks after getting Lip fillers, especially right after, when the product has not yet settled completely. Wait for at least a couple of weeks after getting your lip fillers before flying. It’s around the same time when the bruising and swelling have completely cleared up as well.

Any advice before treatment?

All makeup will need to be removed before the procedure, and attend ‘fresh faced’ if possible. Contamination with makeup can cause infection.

Taking the following within 72 hours of treatment may increase your risk of bruising: Alcohol, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, St. John’s Wort, Fish oils, Ginkgo Biloba, and Vitamins C and E.

Do cancel if you are at all unwell, even minor coughs and colds can increase your risk of post-treatment complications.

Reschedule if you think you have or are developing a cold sore. Treatment around the mouth can trigger or spread cold sore infections. If you are prone to developing cold sores, then it is important to inform your doctor, as we prescribe some prophylactic medication.

Do contact the clinic to discuss any illness or new medicines before attending.

Any advice After treatment?

Most people can continue with normal activities. Some will have some redness, pinprick marks, and swelling following a lip treatment, which should settle within a few days. Cold packs may be advised to help alleviate swelling, and arnica may be recommended to reduce bruising.

Dr Matla will provide you with aftercare advice.

Bruising and swelling may be more apparent the next day and can take up to 14 days to disappear. Tenderness should settle within 48 hours.

After the lip filler procedure, it is expected that you will see an improvement straight away, although due to initial swelling, the product may feel hard or lumpy or asymmetrical immediately afterwards.

The results are best judged at a 2-week review appointment.

Make-up should not be worn for 12 hours, and the skin should be kept clean, with normal cleansing. Do not use cleansing wipes, which may irritate the skin.

  • Avoid extremes of heat or cold, vigorous exercise and massage (unless specifically asked to do so) on the day of treatment.
  • Avoid sunbathing and extremes of heat for 14 days, as this has been shown to increase and prolong swelling.

Dissolving lip fillers with hyaluronidase

Because Dr Matla uses hyaluronic acid lip fillers, your treatment is fully reversible if you ever change your mind or experience problems. The body will gradually break down filler, but hyaluronidase injections can safely speed this process up and restore a more natural lip shape. Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that breaks the bonds between hyaluronic acid molecules in the filler, allowing the product to disperse and be reabsorbed by your body. This can be helpful if filler has created lumps or bumps, has migrated above the lip line, or simply no longer suits your facial features.

At your consultation, Dr Matla will assess your lips, review your medical history and explain whether dissolving is the right option for you. A patch test is required to check for allergy to hyaluronidase, then a very fine needle is used to inject the enzyme into the targeted areas. The procedure itself takes only a few minutes, and results develop over the next 24 hours, although temporary swelling can make the lips look fuller before they settle.

If you would like more detailed information about hyaluronidase injections, you can also read our dedicated page on dissolving lip fillers.
