Lips with Beautiful Symmetry

The most common reason men and women have lip fillers is to rectify asymmetry. For instance, a conspicuous ridge on one side can be filled in with dermal to create an even appearance. Similarly, if one of the top edges is higher than the other, we might add to it to make it sit evenly.

Due to the fact that most people do not have a precise centre, making these modifications might be challenging, but they are essential for every step of getting the ideal shape. It all boils down to achieving facial harmony. — a popular surgical procedure for persons with an uneven Cupid’s bow, one side of the mouth that is somewhat larger than the other, or a top or bottom that is overly prominent. Unevenness is easily rectifiable with our lip enhancement treatment.

Lip Enhancement In Jesmond

Over time, the natural ageing process alters the appearance of your face. The bone that supports your lips is reabsorbed by the body. Your upper lip may appear thinner and flatter without it. It is possible to achieve plumper lips that you will adore. Facial fillers smooth wrinkles around the mouth, but they can also make them fuller, more symmetrical, and more visible. Filling your marionette and bar lines around your mouth gives you a younger and smoother appearance. Over time, the natural ageing process alters the appearance of your face. What happens to the lip volume?

Many women find that lip filler treatment improves their sense of femininity. Fuller lips can give the appearance of stronger features. They can help to balance the features, especially if you have a larger upper face (eyes and forehead) and a smaller chin. Finally, the volume they restore can give the face bounce and youthfulness.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT LIP FILLERS

Are Lip Fillers Painful?

Everyone asks whether the treatment is painful or not. We have read horror stories and seen images of results going wrong circulating on Facebook or Instagram. If you are getting your lip fillers from an experienced doctor/nurse, you probably won’t feel a thing. You might feel a sharp sensation during the procedure.

Our qualified injectors follow proper preparation procedures and advanced injection techniques that ensure you are comfortable during the lip filler treatment.

Numbing cream and a local anaesthetic are used to make the whole process as painless as possible. If you have low pain tolerance, we can suggest some tips that can help you prepare for a lip filler treatment.

Most fillers contain a local anaesthetic to provide pain relief during the procedure although we may apply a topical anaesthetic cream or ice prior to treatment to numb the skin. The procedure may be uncomfortable but is not usually painful.

How long do lip fillers last?

The initial size of the lip, the patient’s age, the anatomy of the perioral area, the cupid’s bow, oral commissures, upper cutaneous lip size, and the amount of pre-existing collagen all impact the longevity of a lip filler. Some patients may require more than one filler treatment to achieve their desired lip fullness. Lip augmentation uses a variety of dermal fillers. Juvéderm/Teoxane/Belotero are popular options that last 6-12 months. Lip filler can last longer in some cases depending on the speed at which the body metabolises the product.

Do Lip Fillers Affect Kissing?

Kissing may not be advisable for a couple of days because your lips would be sore and swollen for the first 24 to 48 hours. we advise against touching your lips with your fingers because the fillers have not yet fully settled. There is a risk of infection and migration of lip filler around other parts of your face. Any pressure on the lips after Treatment may also lead to excessive bruising, lumpiness, and excessive swelling.

But once you’ve recovered, rest assured that they will feel fresh and look natural.

Because lip fillers are designed to mimic the softness and sensitivity of the natural lips, anyone you’d kiss wouldn’t have a clue that you had a lip filler treatment unless you tell them yourself.

How Much Does It Cost to Get Lip Fillers?

The saying you get what you pay for is applicable when it comes to lip filler treatments. Never choose cheap options that would potentially compromise the result and your own safety. Don’t put yourself at risk of botched lips, infections, lip tissue necrosis and other serious complications.

Can I use Straw after Lip fillers?

Another frequently asked lip filler question is whether it is safe to use a straw after the treatment. For the first 24 hours following treatment, avoid using a straw due to your lips being numb and swollen, and the pressure of the motion may push the dermal filler away from where it was placed, putting you at risk of harming yourself.

How Much Lip Filler Should You Get?

Dr Matla focuses on developing a personalised treatment for each patient, reflecting your own personal goals and concerns. He offers the latest techniques to ensure his patients a comfortable and speedy recovery.

The amount of lip filler product required varies per client and depends on the aesthetic goals. In other words, how thin your lips are, to begin with, and how much augmentation you’re after. We would advise you to start with a small dose for a subtle effect and add gradually instead of injecting a considerable amount the first time.

Are Lip Fillers Dangerous?

Like most cosmetic treatments, lip fillers can be minimally invasive and involves risks. Is it safe? All treatments carry a degree of risk. All risks and complications will be discussed with you at the consultation and prior to any treatment being agreed upon.

Dermal fillers should be administered by a healthcare professional with specialist training. We will provide aftercare advice designed to minimise risk and promote speedy recovery from any expected side effects.

Save yourself from the unsightly and painful consequences of a botched lip filler procedure. Choose a qualified experienced doctor/nurse.

Do Lip Fillers Alter Your Smile?

Absolutely. The application of lip fillers has the potential to transform your natural smile, albeit if not administered with precision. Overfilling the lips can lead to an awkward and unnatural appearance.

Can You Drink Alcohol After Lip Fillers?

We recommend abstaining from alcohol for 48 hours following your treatment. Alcohol consumption heightens the risk of bleeding and bruising complications, potentially impacting your results and overall health. This precaution ensures optimal outcomes and minimises potential complications.

Do Your Lips Feel Hard After Lip Fillers?

It is common for filled lips to feel stiff and firm during the first two weeks after the injection. Everything will go back to normal once the swelling has subsided. If your lips are still hard and painful, arrange a review appointment.

How Long After Lip Fillers Can I Wear Lipstick?

We recommend waiting two to three days after your treatment before applying makeup, including lipstick. During this time, handle your lips gently to avoid disturbing the newly injected filler. Minimising pressure helps maintain the integrity of the treatment for optimal results.

What Helps Lip Fillers Heal Faster?

After getting your lip injection, your doctor will provide you with a list of post-treatment care steps that you should follow to speed up your recovery.

  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
  • Apply an ice pack to your lips but be careful not to apply pressure.
  • Avoid taking blood-thinning medicines and supplements, such as ibuprofen and aspirin.
  • Skip smoking or getting exposed to second-hand smoke.
  • Say no to spicy foods.
  • Eat healthy and nutritious fruits and vegetables with lots of antioxidants and minerals.
  • Stop eating fast food and junk food. They are loaded with sodium which can make you more dehydrated.
  • Do not do rigorous physical activities that involve heavy lifting or sweating.
Can I Fly After Getting Lip Fillers?

No. It’s strongly discouraged for patients to board a flight at least 1-2 weeks after getting Lip fillers, especially right after when the product has not yet settled completely. Wait for at least a couple of weeks after getting your lip fillers before flying. It’s around the same time when the bruising and swelling have completely cleared up as well.

Any advice before treatment?

All makeup will need to be removed prior to the procedure, attend ‘fresh faced’ if possible. Contamination with make-up can cause infection.

Taking the following within 72 hours of treatment may increase your risk of bruising – Alcohol, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, St. John’s Wort, Fish oils, Ginkgo Biloba, and Vitamins C and E.

Do cancel if you are at all unwell, even minor coughs and colds can increase your risk of post-treatment complications.

Reschedule if you think you have or are developing a cold sore. Treatment around the mouth can trigger or spread cold sore infections. If you are prone to developing cold sores, then it is important to inform the doctor as we prescribe some prophylactic medication.

Do contact the clinic to discuss any illness or new medicines prior to attending.

Any advice After treatment?

Most people can continue with normal activities. Some will have some redness, pinprick marks, and swelling following a lip treatment which should settle within a few days. Cold packs may be advised to help alleviate swelling and arnica may be recommended to reduce bruising.

The doctor will provide you with aftercare advice.

Bruising and swelling may be more apparent the next day and can take up to 14 days to disappear. Tenderness should settle within 48 hours.

After the lip filler procedure it is expected that you will see an improvement straight away although due to initial swelling, the product may feel hard or lumpy or asymmetrical immediately afterwards.

The results are best judged at a 2-week review appointment.

Make-up should not be worn for 12 hours and the skin should be kept clean, with a normal cleansing. Do not use cleansing wipes which may irritate the skin.

  • Avoid extremes of heat or cold, vigorous exercise and massage (unless specifically asked to do so) on the day of treatment.
  • Avoid sunbathing and extremes of heat for 14 days as this has been shown to increase and prolong swelling.

Dermal Filler Testimonials

Lip Filler Treatment

"Dr. Matla is amazing! I would give him 10 stars if I could. He is so professional and an aesthetic magician. I always leave his clinic feeling more confident, and I trust his work and judgement 100%. I am so happy my mum introduced me to him, as nobody compares to his work. I feel like a better version of myself, and he would never carry out any treatment that he did not feel was necessary or beneficial. Do not hesitate if you are considering visiting him. His results will make you feel like the best version of yourself, and you are in such safe hands. Thank you! I was delighted with the outcome of the lip filler treatment performed by Dr Matla. Subtle, natural and flattering." Linda Hicks

Tear Trough Filler

"Having relocated across the country, I had a bit of a challenge finding a new practitioner for my tear trough fillers. I approached Dr Matla after being unhappy with the work done by another practitioner, whom I had first tried and had not filled them evenly. Dr Matla was consultative, approachable and transparent about touching them up, and the challenges of working with someone else’s work and how this could affect results. I went ahead with treatment, and I am delighted with the results! His detail and precision were comparable to a plastic surgeon who originally did my fillers before I moved, and his manner, service and result give me complete confidence in returning to him and recommending others to him." Helen P

Rhinoplasty, Nose Filler

"Five stars are not enough to express how satisfied I was with Dr Matla's work, from booking to consultation and the procedure itself. My confidence is on another level, and it didn’t cost me much. Thank you so much for taking your time to give me a perfect nose. I will keep recommending you to everyone I meet." Kate Daniel

"I had such a brilliant experience at Dr Matla's clinic. The clinic is very clean and sleek, and Dr Matla is so experienced and knowledgeable that you know you are in safe hands. Both Dr Matla and his assistant were very professional but friendly, and the procedure was explained to me in detail. His assistant is an absolute asset to the clinic; she was very welcoming and personable, and so easy to talk to, so I felt much more relaxed throughout the treatment. I am so happy with the results of my lip fillers, natural yet full! I highly recommend Dr Matla!" Bethany O'Neill

Facial Filler

"Dr Matla carried out a facial thread lift for me, accompanied by dermal facial filler. He explained everything and took his time to achieve the best result. I’m 2 weeks post-procedure, and I can honestly say the result is astounding, far better than my expectations. The staff were so lovely and it was a good experience. I would highly recommend Dr Matla and his clinic. I would have given 10 stars if I could." Sandra Bertram

"Visited Dr Matlas's clinic last week for lip fillers. The journey from start to finish was amazing. The service and care that was provided was second to none. Jordan, his fabulous assistant, puts you at ease while Dr Matla carries out his artistry. You are made to feel like a VIP at every visit! I highly recommend Dr Matla and would not look any further." Rebecca Carr

Tear Trough

"Had tear trough filler done by Dr Matla and the results are amazing! Didn't expect it to be this much of a difference. My face looks a lot fresher now. He was also very understanding and informed me of all the risks, etc, and he was honest and realistic about what to expect. Never had anything done before, so I was quite nervous, but I didn't feel a thing throughout. Would recommend him." Maren Preussler

Chin and Jawline Filler

"Went to Dr Matla for PDO threads on my neck, I’ve just been back for 2nd appointment for some filler in my chin and jawline. Wow, the results are amazing. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Dr Matla, he’s very good at what he does and takes a lot of care in getting it just right for you. Thanks, Dr Matla." Sandra Barnes
