What is PRP?

PRP is a concentrated plasma that contains a high concentration of platelets and growth factors. Growth factors are essential for tissue regeneration. PRP is commonly used in wound healing. This is essential for stimulating tissue regeneration, providing scaffolding for collagen synthesis, skin renewal, and cell growth. PRP will accelerate the skin’s repair process which results in a thicker dermis with softer fine lines and wrinkles, less scarring and improved skin tone.

Why use PRP for facial rejuvenation?

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) has been a cornerstone in sports medicine for several years, demonstrating its effectiveness before extending its reach to aesthetic medicine. By promoting the growth of collagen and elastin, platelets act as catalysts in initiating the body’s natural healing process. Widely embraced by celebrities globally, PRP has become a sought-after treatment for skin and hair rejuvenation. When synergistically paired with hyaluronic acid fillers, the combined approach enhances the overall results, providing an even more pronounced and satisfying outcome. For PRP Facials in Newcastle Contact Dr Matla

PRP/ VAMPIRE FACIAL WITH MICRONEEDLING

Vampire PRP facials are a favourite anti-aging skin treatment for celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Ferne McCann and Bar Rafaeli.

PRP is applied topically onto the skin and microchannels created by the Microneedling device. The micro-pores created by the device stimulates the body to create new collagen and elastin as well as allowing deeper penetration of the PRP. Microneedling alone stimulates collagen in the skin to reduce the appearance of scarring. It is a collagen inducing treatment that harnesses the skin’s own power to naturally rejuvenate and repair itself when injured. For more information on Microneedling visit our page.

PRP & microneedling combination creates a beautiful end result and increases your cell turnover rate. Using your own blood eliminates the risk of having adverse effects, another benefit of the PRP/Vampire facial. You may need 3-6 treatments to achieve optimal results.

The PRP Vampire Facial provides natural, long-lasting effects. The longevity of these results depends on areas treated, as well as the condition of the client’s skin.

Microneedling and PRP Facial Procedure

This procedure takes about an hour. We start by numbing the client’s skin for 30 minutes. A doctor draws a blood sample to start a centrifuge process, which separates the red blood cells from the Platelet-rich-plasma.

Once the skin is numb, the micro needling treatment begins while PRP is simultaneously applied to the face. This procedure has minimal downtime of around 2-3 days. Most patients will have redness, some swelling and mild discomfort.

When PRP is used for the under-eye area, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, or anywhere on the face, it stimulates mild inflammation that triggers the healing process. As a result, new collagen starts to develop. When the new collagen matures, it begins to shrink, tighten and strengthen the skin. Improvement in skin texture and tone is noticeable within 3-4 weeks. Whole collagen regeneration requires 3-4 months.

PRP – UNDER EYES

PRP is one of the best treatments that reduce the appearance of under-eye dark circles and improves skin texture. When combined with hyaluronic fillers even better results are achieved.

PRP FACIAL FAQS

WHAT IS PRP?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is an injectable treatment by which a person’s own blood is used. Platelets are vital in the process of tissue healing, and the growth of new cells. PRP thereby promotes collagen production, regenerates the skin tissue, and essentially re-energizes your cells into rejuvenating themselves. The release of growth factors amplifies the healing process. PRP softens fine lines and wrinkles, tightens the skin, and improves skin tone and texture

HOW IS PRP ADMINISTERED?

The treatment of PRP involves a fraction of blood, collected or ‘drawn up’ from the individual patient into a syringe. The collected blood is then spun down in a special centrifuge to separate its components. The platelet-rich plasma is then reinjected, and/or micro-needled back into the skin.

HOW LONG DOES A PRP FACIAL TREATMENT TAKE?

Typically, a PRP treatment takes between an hour to complete. This depends on if the PRP is administered through injections only, and/or micro-needled into the skin. This timeframe includes an additional 30 minutes for the blood to be drawn and spun in the centrifuge, and topical numbing to be applied.

DO PRP INJECTIONS HURT?

Some mild discomfort may be felt while the PRP is being reinjected. The sensation typically felt is a burning or tingling sensation. This sensation only lasts a few minutes after the PRP injected. We ensure our patients are comfortable throughout the entire PRP treatment and apply topical numbing cream and ice to aid any discomfort.

WHEN WILL I BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS FROM A PRP TREATMENT?
Patients notice tightening and a more tone to their skin in 3-4 weeks after PRP injections. These results continue to build for up to 6 months after treatment.
HOW LONG DO RESULTS FROM PRP INJECTIONS LAST?
Results from PRP injections can be seen for many years after treatment; However, these results vary due to the individual’s natural variation in the quality of Platelet Rich Plasma, as well as their lifestyle. While we cannot stop the aging process, we can slow it down. Results from PRP injections can be extended with proper at-home skin care maintenance.
WHAT AREAS CAN I TREAT WITH PRP INJECTIONS?
Technically, PRP can used to treat area of the body. For cosmetic purposes, PRP is most popularly used to treat the face and neck.
IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME ASSOCIATED WITH PRP?

There is no downtime associated PRP injections; However, after your treatment, your skin may be red. This is normal and to be expected. Redness usually lasts from one to 24 hours. You may also have a little swelling in some areas. Due to this, some patients like to be treated towards the end of the week, so they have the weekend to recover. Healing time varies from patient to patient. Healing may take longer if PRP injections are paired with micro-needling.

HOW MANY PRP TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
Results can be seen after one treatment, but the exact amount of treatments needed varies from patient to patient. Generally, 2-3 treatments are advised, but more may be indicated for some individuals.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS OR POSSIBLE RISKS TO PRP INJECTIONS?
PRP used for aesthetic procedures is safe for most individuals. There are very few contraindications with PRP injections. The most common side effects associated with PRP injections are mild to moderate swelling and redness.
WHO IS NOT A CANDIDATE FOR PRP INJECTIONS?

During your consultation, and assessment will be made to ensure you are the right candidate for PRP injections. Patients with certain health conditions are not a candidate for PRP injections. Patients who are pregnant are not candidates for PRP injections.
