Hair Loss Treatment Before and After Results
Hair Loss Treatment Before & After Results Newcastle
Dr Matla’s Newcastle clinic offers a safe, non-surgical hair loss treatment that delivers natural, visible results without the need for surgery. This page showcases real before and after examples of clients who have undergone Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy, Hair Loss Treatment, including Microneedling, and Hair Loss Treatment for thinning hair and hair loss, and early-stage hair loss.
Each hair loss treatment transformation shows the power of your body’s own healing process when expertly applied to support hair regrowth. By harnessing your body’s own growth factors, PRP treatments stimulate dormant hair follicles, strengthening existing hair and promoting healthier, thicker strands over time.
How PRP Works for Hair Restoration
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) hair loss treatment works by stimulating dormant hair follicles using growth factors taken from your own blood. This natural approach for hair loss helps thicken existing hair and encourages new strands to grow over time. Platelets are packed with growth factors that support tissue repair, cell regeneration, and blood vessel formation, all essential for reactivating inactive hair follicles. As this hair loss treatment uses your own plasma, there’s no risk of allergic reactions or harsh side effects, making it a natural and minimally invasive treatment.
Our clients have seen improvements in:
- Hair thickness and density
- Reduced hair shedding
- New hair growth in thinning areas
- Healthier scalp condition
- Confidence in appearance

PRP Hair loss FAQs
WHAT DOES PRP CONSIST OF AND HOW DOES IT HELP HAIR GROWTH?
Human blood is comprised primarily of red blood cells (RBC), as well as white blood cells (WBC), platelets, and plasma. By initiating the first step of coagulation, platelets are the key to the body’s ability to heal wounds. It is thought that by increasing the platelet count in a wounded area, the body’s healing to that area would be accelerated – explaining the use of PRP in wound healing. Its effects on promoting hair growth make it useful for the medical treatment of hair loss.
PRP is concentrated blood plasma that contains approximately 5x the number of platelets found in normal circulating blood. This is significant because the Platelets in the PRP contain proteins that promote the rate of tissue healing and regeneration within inactive hair follicles. Inside these platelets are a variety of intracellular structures such as glycogen (a form of glucose), lysosomes (which break down the proteins) and alpha granules (which contain clotting and growth factors that get released during the cell repair process).
PRP-specific cells that cause hair growth
In particular, the PRP-specific cells that cause hair growth include:
Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF): Cell growth, collagen and blood vessel formation
Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF): For blood vessel formation
Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF): for blood vessel, cell and skin formation
Transforming Growth-Factor-Beta (TGF-b): For a growth matrix between cells, bone metabolism.
Studies show that PRP can be a safe and effective hair loss treatment. PRP involves drawing a small amount of your blood, placing your blood into a machine that separates it into parts, and then injecting one part of your blood (the plasma) into the area with hair loss.
The entire procedure takes about 30 minutes and usually doesn’t require any downtime. You will need to return for repeat injections. Most patients return once a month for 3 months and then once every 3 to 6 months. Within the first few months of treatment, you may notice that you are losing less or minimal amounts of hair.
WHO BENEFITS FROM PRP HAIR LOSS TREATMENT?
PRP Hair Loss Treatment is suitable for:
- Men with early signs of male pattern baldness
- Women experiencing hormonal or postpartum hair thinning
- Clients with alopecia areata
- Anyone with general hair thinning seeking a natural, non-invasive solution
It’s especially effective when treatment begins early – before extensive follicle damage has occurred.
HOW SOON CAN I EXPECT RESULTS FROM PRP HAIR LOSS TREATMENT?
After receiving Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy it may take a little time for you to begin to see results. It is also necessary to attend follow-up sessions, typically monthly appointments for the first 3 months and then a further session after three to six months. Yearly maintenance sessions will help to keep the treatment effective from then on. Of course, factors such as the amount of hair loss and the density of growth will vary from patient to patient, and your medical practitioner will be able to advise how many appointments will specifically be necessary. Typically, you can expect to begin seeing results after a third or fourth appointment.

WHY IS PRP SO POPULAR FOR HAIR LOSS TREATMENT
PRP is a a “natural” way to restore hair
Successfully PRP has been used for its healing properties in other areas of medicine over the years such as in joints and muscle tissues. It is also used as a cosmetic treatment for the face, where PRP is combined with micro-needling. This has been labelled the “Vampire Facelift” because it stimulates collagen and rejuvenates the face nonsurgically.
Another factor that makes PRP so popular for patients is that this is a “natural” way to restore hair. Most medications used to restore hair, such as Propecia, have significant side effects in men (such as erectile dysfunction). These medications are also contraindicated in women, especially those of childbearing age. PRP treatments can be used in tandem with hair transplantation to help accelerate hair growth. Treatments should be performed on average, every 4 to 6 weeks for three sessions. Most of the patients typically see new hair growth after the first 8-10 weeks. Nutritional supplements are also recommended as they can optimize the hair restoration process. Dr Matla will go over a comprehensive plan with you during your initial consultation.
ARE THERE ANY DOWNSIDES OF PLATELET-RICH PLASMA THERAPY FOR HAIR LOSS?
There are minimal side effects related to Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy for hair loss. As the treatment is non-invasive and uses the patient’s own blood, there is absolutely no recovery time required, and any discomfort caused by the treatment tends to pass almost immediately. Despite it being a relatively expensive treatment the remarkable safety record and promising outcomes, make it hugely popular.
However, it’s important for individuals considering PRP therapy to maintain realistic expectations regarding its efficacy. While PRP has demonstrated considerable success in stimulating hair regrowth, it’s crucial to understand that it represents an enhancement rather than a solution. Although PRP effectively combats hair loss, particularly in cases where it commenced within the last five years, patients should not anticipate dramatic regrowth. PRP’s effectiveness primarily lies in its ability to arrest and reverse hair loss rather than induce substantial new growth.

PRP FOR HAIR LOSS FOR BOTH MEN & WOMEN IN NEWCASTLE
PRP contains platelets concentrated up to 5x the normal blood value. Dr Matla then takes the PRP, also called “liquid gold” because of its colour, and injects it throughout the scalp. No medications are required pre or post-procedure. The PRP contains many growth factors that stimulate hair follicles and can be performed up to every month based on how much hair growth is required.
It is a great solution for both men and women, especially when hair transplant surgery is not an option. Injections can stimulate new hair growth in men who suffer from androgenetic alopecia, otherwise known as male pattern baldness as well as women who suffer from this condition. Dr Matla targets the areas of the scalp where the hair is currently thinning. The procedure will take approximately 30 minutes from the time your blood is drawn until the PRP is injected into your scalp.

- Many individuals experience a substantial increase in the rate of hair growth following PRP treatment, contributing to thicker and denser hair coverage.
- PRP therapy is known to activate dormant hair follicles, encouraging them to enter a growth phase and promoting the health of existing follicles.
- PRP treatment can help reduce hair thinning by strengthening existing hair strands and preventing further loss.
- Patients often report achieving a more natural appearance with fuller and healthier-looking hair after undergoing PRP therapy.
- PRP offers a non-invasive therapeutic approach for individuals dealing with alopecia areata, providing a reliable and safe alternative to more invasive procedures.
