Why choose 3D-Trilogyice Laser Hair Removal at Dr Matla Clinic
At Dr Matla Clinic, our Laser Hair Removal team uses 3D-Trilogyice because it combines three laser wavelengths in one handpiece to target hair follicles at different depths more effectively. This helps us treat a wide range of skin types with greater precision, while advanced cooling technology keeps treatment comfortable, fast and more manageable across both small and larger areas.
Benefits of 3D-Trilogyice Laser Hair Removal
The benefits of 3D-Trilogy ice laser hair removal start with smoother skin, less shaving and softer regrowth over time. Many clients also notice fewer ingrown hairs, very little downtime and long-term hair reduction after a course, with occasional top-ups if needed. Its fast delivery, precision application and cooling-supported comfort make it a safe, practical and cost-effective option for clients who want reliable laser hair removal at Dr Matla Clinic.
‘Power of Three’ 3D-Trilogyice
Using the ‘Power of Three’ 3D-Trilogyice, we offer a more advanced approach to laser hair removal in Newcastle. This technology combines Alexandrite, Diode and Nd: YAG wavelengths in one handpiece, allowing us to target pigment at different depths within the follicle for a more precise and versatile treatment. The smooth, gliding delivery and effective cooling help keep sessions fast, controlled and virtually pain-free, while personalised settings under Dr Matla’s supervision support safe, consistent results across a wide range of skin types.
Skin feels smoother for longer between Laser Hair Removal sessions
Laser energy targets pigment in the hair at the root. That is why hair grows back finer and lighter than shaving or waxing. Ingrowns tend to reduce because the follicle is affected. The Laser Hair Removal team chooses the wavelength and pulse to suit your skin and hair. Contact cooling protects the skin’s surface during each pass.
Dr Matla is a Newcastle-based GP who practises both aesthetics and general practice. He has over 20 years of medical experience and is regulated by the CQC. You can be assured that you will be in very safe hands with your Lip Filler Procedure. You can read more about Dr Matla here. LASER HAIR REMOVAL FAQ’S
How does Laser Hair Removal Work?
Laser hair removal uses focused light energy to target pigment in the hair. That energy travels down to the follicle, where heat affects the structures responsible for future growth. At Dr Matla Clinic, our Laser Hair Removal team uses 3D-Trilogyice technology, which combines three wavelengths in one handpiece to reach hair at different depths more effectively. The 3D Trilogyice triple wavelength technology (Alexandrite, Diode and ND: Yag) achieves maximum results when compared to a single wavelength.
These three wavelengths transfer energy downwards, reaching different depths of the dermal tissue. 3D Trilogyice employs volumetric heating of the dermal tissue, altering the function of the hair. The fluence of each pulse from the laser is delivered low but rapidly to collectively heat the dermal tissue and thermally injure the hair follicle. The melanin in the hair helps to conduct the heat, bringing the temperature of the follicle above the temperature of the dermal tissue. The duration of each pulse from the laser handpiece is less than the thermal relaxation time of the hair follicle. This allows the energy to build within the follicle, causing irreversible heat trauma. However, the delicate skin tissue is left unaffected. This trauma effectively impairs the function of the biological elements responsible for hair re-growth.
What happens in the laser hair removal appointment?
Your appointment begins with a quick review of the treatment area, your skin, and any recent sun exposure, skincare changes or medication updates. The area is then cleaned and checked so the settings can be adjusted to suit your skin and hair on the day. During treatment, the handpiece is moved smoothly across the skin in controlled passes. The laser’s light is able to penetrate the dermis without causing any harm and is then absorbed by the hair root, where it eliminates the hair-producing cells. In addition to possible flushing of the skin, you may feel a warming feeling.
You will usually feel a warm flicking sensation, but the built-in cooling helps keep the treatment far more comfortable than many clients expect. After the session, the Laser Hair Removal team will talk you through aftercare and help you plan your next appointment so your course stays on track.
3D-Trilogy ice in motion protocol ensures safe, comfortable and effective hair removal on all skin types. Rather than exposing hair follicles to a single high-energy pulse, the Trilogy in motion protocol works by gradually heating the dermis and damaging hair follicles whilst avoiding injury to the surrounding tissue. The Trilogy in motion protocol of moving the applicator over the treatment area quickly enables full coverage, whilst the contact cooling system ensures virtually pain-free and effective hair removal.

Which areas of the body can be treated with Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal can be used on most areas where unwanted hair grows. Popular treatment areas at Dr Matla Clinic include the underarms, legs, arms, bikini line, Hollywood, face, chest, back and shoulders. It is suitable for both women and men, and treatment can be adapted depending on the thickness of the hair, the size of the area and your skin tone. If you are unsure whether a smaller or more sensitive area can be treated, the Laser Hair Removal team can assess this during your consultation and advise honestly.
How many laser hair removal sessions will I need?
Most clients need a course of sessions rather than a single treatment. In many cases, around 6 to 8 sessions is a common starting point, but the exact number depends on the area being treated, your hair density, your skin tone and how your body responds. Facial hair often needs more regular treatment than body hair because of the growth cycle, and hormonal areas may need occasional maintenance later on.
How long does a Laser Hair Removal Session Take?
Treatment time depends on the size of the area. Small areas such as the upper lip or underarms are usually quick, while larger areas such as the legs, chest or back take longer.
When will I see results from laser hair removal?
Many clients notice a change after the first session, especially in the way the hair grows back. Regrowth often becomes softer, finer and less dense, and some hairs begin to shed in the weeks after treatment. That said, the best results build gradually across a full course because hair grows in stages. It is important to set expectations properly. Laser hair removal is designed for long-term reduction, not instant one-day removal, which is exactly why a course is so important.
Is there any downtime after laser hair removal?
There is usually very little downtime after laser hair removal. Most clients return to normal day-to-day activity straight after their appointment. Mild warmth or temporary redness can happen, especially in more sensitive areas, but this normally settles quite quickly. Brief redness is common after treatment and usually settles with simple aftercare. At Dr Matla Clinic, the Laser Hair Removal team will always explain what is normal and what to avoid for the next day or two so your skin stays calm.
What should I do before laser hair removal?
Before your appointment, the treatment area should usually be shaved, and it is important to avoid recent tanning, sunbeds and self-tan so the skin is at its natural tone. You should also tell us about any new medication, active skincare products or health changes before treatment. The live page already includes preparation advice, but it reads far more clearly in paragraph form.
A simple version for clients is this: arrive with clean skin, avoid sun exposure, do not wax or pluck beforehand, and follow the shaving advice given by the Laser Hair Removal team.
What should I do after laser hair removal treatment?
After treatment, the skin should be treated gently. Avoid heat, hot showers, saunas, steam rooms and vigorous exercise for a short period while the area settles. Use SPF on exposed skin, avoid active or perfumed products if the skin feels warm, and do not wax, tweeze or thread between sessions. Shaving is usually the preferred option between appointments because it does not disturb the follicle in the same way. Simple cooling, sun protection and gentle skincare after treatment to reduce irritation and support recovery is also advised.

Do I need to shave before laser hair removal?
Yes, in most cases, you should shave the area before treatment. Shaving leaves the follicle in place while removing surface hair, which helps the laser target the root more effectively. Waxing, plucking, and threading are different because they remove the hair from the root, which can reduce how well the laser works.
At Dr Matla Clinic, the Laser Hair Removal team will tell you exactly when to shave before your appointment so the area is prepared properly.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
Laser hair removal is best described as long-term hair reduction rather than guaranteed permanent one-off removal. Many clients enjoy very low regrowth after a course, and the hair that does return is often finer and lighter. Some clients then choose occasional maintenance sessions to keep results at their best, especially in hormonal areas.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Most clients describe laser hair removal as quick, warm and very manageable. Some areas are naturally more sensitive than others, but modern cooling technology makes a noticeable difference to comfort. At Dr Matla Clinic, 3D-Trilogyice includes advanced cooling that helps protect the surface of the skin while the treatment works deeper in the follicle. That means the session feels more controlled and far less intimidating than many people expect. If a certain area feels sharper, settings can be adjusted to keep treatment comfortable.
Is laser hair removal safe for darker skin tones?
Laser hair removal can be suitable for a wide range of skin types when the settings are chosen properly. This is one of the reasons multi-wavelength technology is useful, because it gives the Laser Hair Removal team more flexibility when treating different skin tones and hair types.
At Dr Matla Clinic, that means your treatment is adjusted around your skin rather than forced into a standard setting.
Which laser is best for hair removal?
There is no single universal answer for every client, because the best laser hair removal treatment depends on your skin tone, hair thickness, treatment area and goals.
At Dr Matla Clinic, we use 3D-Trilogyice because its triple-wavelength system is designed to work across different tissue depths and a broader range of skin types. For clients, the most important point is not just the machine name. It is whether the treatment is tailored properly, delivered safely and explained clearly. That is why consultation matters just as much as the technology itself.
How much does laser hair removal cost?
The cost of laser hair removal depends on the area being treated and how many sessions are included in your course. Smaller areas cost less than larger ones, and combination packages often offer better value when you are treating more than one area at the same time.
See our laser hair removal prices on our Aesthetic Treatment pricing page.
How long does laser hair removal last?
Results vary from person to person, but most clients find that once they complete a full course, regrowth is greatly reduced for the long term. Hair that does return is often lighter, finer and more manageable. Some clients choose maintenance sessions every so often to keep results stable, especially where hormones play a part.
